Donnafugata in Korea: on Jeju Island with the new Lighea to protect the oceans

Donnafugata flies to Korea for a special campaign for the defense of the oceans. From 3 to 7 July Jeju, the enchanting volcanic island, a UNESCO heritage site in the south of the Korean peninsula, was animated by a program of environmental awareness activities.

In collaboration with the Jeju Tourism Organization and the importer Nara Cellar, Donnafugata promoted a special waste collection on the beaches, involving many young volunteers.

Sicily and Jeju have never been so close; two islands naturally dedicated to beauty and both united in the protection of seas and oceans.

The initiative that took place in this setting of great naturalistic value was the opportunity to present the new packaging of Lighea, the aromatic Mediterranean wine made from Zibibbo grapes, the result of the heroic viticulture coming from another volcanic gem: the island of Pantelleria.

With the 2023 vintage of Lighea, Donnafugata reconfirms its commitment to the environment; this white wine, in fact, has the "Cento per Cento Sicilia" bottle, lighter and produced from recycled glass in Sicily, and the Nomacorc Ocean cap, obtained by recycling plastic collected in coastal areas to protect the marine ecosystem. A virtuous example of circular economy Made in Sicily.

Seminars, tastings, and wine parties enriched the program, crowned by the encounter between Donnafugata wines and the flavors of island cuisine. From the Mediterranean to the ocean, Jeju was the setting for four days dedicated to environmental sustainability and the culture of quality wine.
